Meet the Team

Meet Stacey!

With 20 years of experience across the healthcare and disability support sectors, Stacey brings a wealth of experience, compassion and genuine care to her role as New Wave Care’s Accounts Manager.

For Stacey, caring for people has always been more than just a career. It’s something that has been part of her life for as long as she can remember. Growing up, she was surrounded by people who cared deeply for others, and she believes that naturally became part of who she is too.

Her grandmother was someone who was always there for people. She would open her home to those going through difficult times and support them until they were able to get back on their feet. She was also an artist who created a space where people with disabilities could explore their creativity, connect with others and feel included.

Stacey’s mum followed in her footsteps, becoming an Aged Care nurse, so helping and caring for others was never really spoken about as a “job” in Stacey’s family. It was simply something they did.

Stacey found herself following that same path, continuing something that had been passed down through generations of her family. It’s something she’s incredibly proud of and has carried into her own work in her own way.

What keeps Stacey coming back to the sector is simple: people.

She loves connecting with others, the smiles, the hugs and those warm-hearted moments when you realise you might have just made someone smile from the inside. For Stacey, knowing that something she has said or done might make someone’s day a little brighter is what makes this work so rewarding.

A little bit of Stacey

Now for the important stuff!

Stacey has a rather beautiful eye for the little things that most of us probably walk straight past.

She loves taking close-up photos of things with interesting and unique textures and shapes. From the incredible patterns in tree bark to fascinating architecture she spots while she’s out in the community, Stacey loves capturing the details that can so easily be overlooked.

There’s something about the colours, shapes and character hidden in the smallest details that really catches her attention.

So while everyone else might be looking at the big picture, there’s a very good chance Stacey is somewhere nearby zooming in on a piece of tree bark thinking, “Look at that texture!”

And perhaps that’s a pretty perfect reflection of Stacey herself. She notices the details, cares deeply about people and has a natural instinct to look after those around her.

Affectionately known as Mumma Bear, Stacey brings 20 years of experience, a huge heart, a wonderful appreciation for the little things and a whole lot of genuine care to New Wave Care.

We’re incredibly grateful to have her as part of our team.

Meet Zoey!

With almost 22 years of experience in the health sector, Zoey brings a wealth of experience, compassion and genuine understanding to her role as North Brisbane’s Service Coordinator.

Zoey has always been passionate about helping people improve their quality of life and making sure they receive the time, care and support they deserve. After working in aged care, she found herself wanting more time to provide truly individualised support. Her own experience navigating the NDIS with her daughter also gave her a completely different perspective on the importance of having compassionate, reliable and genuinely caring people in your corner.

For Zoey, knowing she can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life is what makes this work so rewarding. She loves seeing participants achieve their goals, witnessing the smiles and joy that come from those wins, and hearing how happy people are with the support they receive.

She also loves watching the New Wave Care team grow, support one another and celebrate the wins along the way. For Zoey, it’s about creating positive experiences for both participants and the people who support them.

A little bit of Zoey

Now for the important stuff!

Zoey has some seriously questionable food combinations that she absolutely stands by. Her favourite treat is a Bloody Mary oyster shot, she loves salt & vinegar chips with Vegemite sandwiches, and apparently McDonald’s hot chips through a milkshake straw is the bomb!

She also has a knack for knowing when someone is upset, even when they insist they’re completely fine. When she’s not supporting participants or the team, you might find her watching cleaning and decluttering videos while avoiding cleaning her own house… or having full-blown conversations with her beautiful dog and genuinely expecting a response.

One thing is for sure: Zoey brings experience, heart, humour and a whole lot of genuine care to New Wave Care and we are so grateful to have her in the team.

Meet Katie!

Experience, empathy, heart, a genuine passion for making a difference and a whole lot of fun to be around. That’s Katie!

Katie’s journey into the care sector started when she was a teenager, when she became a carer for her nan, who was living with Alzheimer’s.

When her nan sadly passed away, Katie realised just how natural caring for others had become for her. What started as caring for someone she loved grew into a career that has now spanned 10 years, with Katie spending the past 9 years working professionally in the sector.

Her experience includes 4 years as a Support Worker in the complex behaviour space before moving into Support Coordination, followed by roles in service delivery and case management.

But for Katie, this work has never just been about a job. It’s about people.

Her own family experience was what first brought her into the sector, and over the years that passion has grown into a genuine commitment to supporting others, creating connection and making sure people feel like they have someone in their corner.

Katie loves that her work allows her to step outside of her own headspace and focus on giving back to others. When life feels chaotic, one of the things that helps Katie find her way through is being there for someone else.

Whether it’s supporting participants, staff or the New Wave Care team, Katie loves being a safe space where people can talk, share what’s going on and simply feel heard.

For Katie, it’s about showing up, listening, supporting and creating a space where people feel safe to be themselves.

And that’s exactly what she brings to New Wave Care.

Now for the REALLY important stuff…

Katie has broken her nose FOUR times.

Yep… FOUR. TIMES.

And because apparently breaking it four times wasn’t enough, Katie can also dislocate her nose in and out of place.

We’re not entirely sure how this became a fun fact, but she tells us it is.

What Katie brings to New Wave Care

Experience, empathy, understanding, a safe space and a whole lot of heart.

Katie brings a genuine passion for supporting people and making sure they know they’re not alone.

From caring for her nan as a teenager to building a career around supporting others, Katie’s journey has always been about people, connection and making a difference.

She’s someone who shows up, listens, backs the people around her and genuinely cares about the impact she can have.

We are so grateful to have Katie in the New Wave Care Team.

Meet Kristin!

With over five years of experience across the disability sector, Kristin has packed A LOT into those five years. From managing two disability equipment stores at the same time, to working as a Support Worker supporting participants with physical and complex psychosocial support needs, to working as a disability Personal Trainer and now working as a Business Development Manager, Kristin has built a career that has taken her into just about every corner of the sector which has helped her to learn and grow and become an amazing Business Development Manager.

She has worked directly alongside participants, supported people through their day-to-day lives, worked with disability equipment and now spends her days connecting people, building connections, creating opportunities and bringing together the incredible people across the NDIS sector that are doing the best work.

And if there is one thing Kristin has built along the way, it’s connections. She is incredibly connected across the NDIS space and loves nothing more than knowing who does what, who can help, where the gaps are and how she can connect the right people together. For Kristin, it’s all about connecting great people across the sector, bringing the right people together and creating opportunities for collaboration that ultimately achieve the best possible outcomes for participants.

Why Kristin came into the sector

Kristin has always loved helping and caring for people, but it was caring for her mum through her cancer journey that made her stop and question the career path she had been on.

That experience changed the way she looked at what she wanted to do and ultimately led her into managing disability equipment stores so she could build her knowledge and understanding of the disability sector.

From there, Kristin moved into Support Work.

And she never looked back.

Working directly with participants gave her a completely different perspective and helped shape the way she sees the disability sector today. For Kristin, it has always been about people, connection and being part of something that can genuinely make a difference in someone’s life.

Why Kristin loves what she does

For Kristin, it’s about being there, being part of someone’s life and having the opportunity to make a positive difference in their day-to-day life.

And while she may not be working as a Support Worker anymore, that passion for people hasn’t gone anywhere.

Now, as a Business Development Manager, Kristin gets to connect with other providers who are just as passionate about the work they do, build genuine connections across the sector and bring people together.

But there’s another part of her role that she loves just as much.

Her team!

Getting to work alongside an incredible group of passionate, dedicated people makes the work even more special. Because Kristin knows that when you have incredible people behind the scenes, you can create incredible outcomes for participants.

And hearing about those outcomes?

That’s the stuff Kristin loves most.

The wins. The goals achieved. The moments that change someone’s day. The stories that remind you exactly why this work matters.

That’s what keeps the Hype Girl hyping.

A little bit of Kristin

Now for the VERY important stuff.

Kristin absolutely LOVES her chickens.

She has eight chickens, two roosters and, naturally, some of them are entertaining. There’s Chicken Little and then there’s Hugh Hefner.

So when Kristin isn’t connecting people across the NDIS sector, building relationships, hyping up the New Wave Care team or talking about all things disability, there’s a pretty good chance she’s somewhere hanging out with her feathered flock.

Five years in the sector, a career built across multiple sides of disability support, a ridiculous number of connections and eight chickens later…

That’s Kristin.

Our Hype Girl, people connector, relationship builder and loves a great chookie companion.

Meet Sarah!

With over three years of experience working in the disability and support sector, Sarah brings compassion, understanding and genuine care to her role at New Wave Care.

Sarah’s journey into the sector began through providing end-of-life care for both of her grandparents. It was one of the most rewarding, yet hardest, experiences she has ever been through. Although that time was incredibly difficult, Sarah looks back on it and cherishes the beautiful, funny and meaningful memories they created together.

Sarah is also a mum to two young children who are neurodivergent. Her experiences as a parent have given her a deeper understanding of the importance of patience, understanding, acceptance and individualised support. They have also shown her how important it is to recognise that everyone has different needs, strengths and ways of communicating.

These personal experiences have shaped the way Sarah approaches her work. They have shown her just how meaningful compassionate, respectful and genuine support can be, particularly during challenging times. Being able to make a positive difference in someone’s life, support their independence and help them achieve their goals is a big part of why Sarah continues to do what she does today.

Why Sarah loves what she does

For Sarah, one of the things she loves most about working in the sector is that no two people are the same. She loves building genuine relationships with the people she supports and being part of their individual journeys.

Whether it’s watching someone gain confidence, achieve something they once thought they couldn’t, or simply have a really good day because of the support they received, Sarah loves seeing those moments happen.

For her, it’s about making a real difference, no matter how big or small. Supporting people to have more choice, independence and opportunities, while being there to celebrate their achievements along the way, is what makes the work so rewarding.

The relationships, the trust and those little moments are what Sarah values most. Knowing she can have a positive impact on someone’s life is what she loves most about what she does.

A little bit of Sarah

Now for the important stuff!

Sarah absolutely loves anything with an engine.

In her spare time, she enjoys helping her partner work on his race 4WD and getting her hands dirty in the garage. She also has a road bike that she loves riding whenever she gets some free time.

Cars, bikes and anything mechanical have always been a big passion of Sarah’s, so there’s a pretty good chance that when she’s not supporting others, she’s somewhere near a garage, a 4WD or a bike getting stuck into something mechanical.

We’re so grateful to have Sarah as part of the New Wave Care team and to have someone who brings her personal experiences, understanding and genuine care into the way she supports others.
