Meet Zoey!
With almost 22 years of experience in the health sector, Zoey brings a wealth of experience, compassion and genuine understanding to her role as North Brisbane’s Service Coordinator.
Zoey has always been passionate about helping people improve their quality of life and making sure they receive the time, care and support they deserve. After working in aged care, she found herself wanting more time to provide truly individualised support. Her own experience navigating the NDIS with her daughter also gave her a completely different perspective on the importance of having compassionate, reliable and genuinely caring people in your corner.
For Zoey, knowing she can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life is what makes this work so rewarding. She loves seeing participants achieve their goals, witnessing the smiles and joy that come from those wins, and hearing how happy people are with the support they receive.
She also loves watching the New Wave Care team grow, support one another and celebrate the wins along the way. For Zoey, it’s about creating positive experiences for both participants and the people who support them.
A little bit of Zoey
Now for the important stuff!
Zoey has some seriously questionable food combinations that she absolutely stands by. Her favourite treat is a Bloody Mary oyster shot, she loves salt & vinegar chips with Vegemite sandwiches, and apparently McDonald’s hot chips through a milkshake straw is the bomb! 
She also has a knack for knowing when someone is upset, even when they insist they’re completely fine. When she’s not supporting participants or the team, you might find her watching cleaning and decluttering videos while avoiding cleaning her own house… or having full-blown conversations with her beautiful dog and genuinely expecting a response. 
One thing is for sure: Zoey brings experience, heart, humour and a whole lot of genuine care to New Wave Care and we are so grateful to have her in the team.
Meet Katie!
Experience, empathy, heart, a genuine passion for making a difference and a whole lot of fun to be around. That’s Katie!
Katie’s journey into the care sector started when she was a teenager, when she became a carer for her nan, who was living with Alzheimer’s.
When her nan sadly passed away, Katie realised just how natural caring for others had become for her. What started as caring for someone she loved grew into a career that has now spanned 10 years, with Katie spending the past 9 years working professionally in the sector.
Her experience includes 4 years as a Support Worker in the complex behaviour space before moving into Support Coordination, followed by roles in service delivery and case management.
But for Katie, this work has never just been about a job. It’s about people.
Her own family experience was what first brought her into the sector, and over the years that passion has grown into a genuine commitment to supporting others, creating connection and making sure people feel like they have someone in their corner.
Katie loves that her work allows her to step outside of her own headspace and focus on giving back to others. When life feels chaotic, one of the things that helps Katie find her way through is being there for someone else.
Whether it’s supporting participants, staff or the New Wave Care team, Katie loves being a safe space where people can talk, share what’s going on and simply feel heard.
For Katie, it’s about showing up, listening, supporting and creating a space where people feel safe to be themselves.
And that’s exactly what she brings to New Wave Care.
Now for the REALLY important stuff…
Katie has broken her nose FOUR times.
Yep… FOUR. TIMES.
And because apparently breaking it four times wasn’t enough, Katie can also dislocate her nose in and out of place.
We’re not entirely sure how this became a fun fact, but she tells us it is.
